The TEI of Crete was established in 1983 as the TEI of Heraklion, comprising the School of Applied Technology, School of Health and Welfare Services, School of Management and Economics, School of Agricultural Technology and School of Applied Sciences. Today, as the TEI of Crete, the four Schools have expanded and established 18 departments. Each School includes several departments located in the main campus of Heraklion, as well as in the cities of Chania, Rethymnon, Aghios Nikolaos, Sitia and Ierapetra. The undergraduate studies at TEI last 8 semesters (240 ECTS) including lectures, practicals, laboratory sessions and a six month practical training. A thesis is required for attaining the Bachelor’s Degree. The TEI of Crete also offers postgraduate studies lasting 4 semesters (120 ECTS).
The community of the TEI, (students, academics and staff) numbers more than 15.000 people comprising a successful academic community, supported by a well equipped library, a sports complex, a health center, student advice center and modern student housing.
The TEI of Crete has a well-known reputation on a National, European and International level and offers up to date training in technological subjects preparing students to develop into responsible skilled members of the community.
The School of Applied Technologies located in three cities of Crete, Heraklion, Rethymnon and Chania. On the main campus in Heraklion are the departments of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Applied Informatics & Multimedia.
The School of Health and Welfare Services is comprised of the Departments of Nursing and Social Work located on the main campus in Heraklion.
The School of Management and Economics is located in three cities of Crete, Heraklion, Agios Nikolaos and Ierapetra. On the main campus in Heraklion are located the Departments of Business Administration & Tourism and Accounting & Finance. In Agios Nikolaos is located the Department of Business Administration. In Ierapetra functions the Department of Marketing (Commerce and Advertising).
The School of Agricultural Technology comprises the Departments of Agriculture in Heraklion and Nutrition & Dietetics in Sitia.
The School of Applied Sciences comprises the Departments of Electronic Engineering, Environmental & Natural Resources Engineering in Chania and the Department of Music Technology & Acoustics Engineering in Rethymnon.
