Seismic Metamaterials (SM) can be used to filter secondary earthquake waves showing theoretically higher potential than traditional seismic insulators and passive energy dissipation systems. Here, we shows two crucial aspects in the design of the SM. In particular, the use of six order SMs allows to push the beginning of the band-gap at lower frequencies as compared to fourth order SMs. From a modeling point of view, we used the 73 equations that are solved rigorously, circumventing implementation and interpretation issues associated with quasi-normal eigenmode methods. Rapidly converging results are obtained, facilitating analytic calculations involving Green’s tensor, such as radiative heat transfer and van der Waals forces. Preisach model to include in the computation of the resonance frequency of the soil deposit the effect of the mechanical hysteresis. Our results, indicate a path towards the design of low frequency SMs.
