The department’s staff consists of the teaching staff, both permanent and on a contract, and the administration staff. In specific, it comprises 9 permanent staff members and some 20 scientific and laboratory staff, while 150 students are admitted annually.
The teaching staff can be either permanent (three academic ranks: professor, assistant professor and lecturer) or on a contract basis (two academic ranks: scientific and laboratory assistants).

Graduate profile
Upon completion of their studies, graduates possess the necessary scientific background and technological skills, that will enable them to operate professionally in all areas of their studies, within the private and public sector.
Studies
According to the curriculum, the first seven (7) semesters include theoretical and laboratory modules, whereas the last semester is dedicated to the diploma thesis and supervised practical training.
One should note that the modules have been organized according to their ECTS credits, which enables a student of this department to follow modules of related departments in foreign institutions (which follow the same system of credit unit transfer) by transferring his ECTs, to obtain the degree.
