- Characteristics of multimedia systems. Interactivity and its advantages in presenting information. Interactivity and personalization of information to the user.
- Digital Representation of Information. Digitizing techniques. Pulse code modulation (PCM). Linear and logarithmic encoding.
- Compression. General principles of compression. Lossless and lossy compression. Entropy and source encoding. Run-length encoding (RLE). Statistical encoding. Transform encoding. Differential / predictive encoding. Vector quantization. Symmetry of compression techniques.
- Text. Text representation. Handling text.
- Εικόνα. Σύλληψη εικόνων. Συµπίεση. Τεχνικές συµπίεσης εικόνας ( GIF, JPEG). Γραφικά και Εικόνα.
