TEI of Crete participates in the research networking programme of the European Science Foundation (ESF) with title “Common perspectives for cold atoms, semiconductor polaritons and nanoscience”.
The network includes approximately 60 scientists from 15 European countries (Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Italy, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and The Netherlands). Greece is represented by the TEI of Crete, the National Technical University of Athens, and the Department of Material Science of the University of Crete. Georgios Kavoulakis, who is a professor at the department of Mechanical Engineering of the TEI of Crete, is the chair of the network.
The network has two main goals: to strengthen the relationship between the field of cold atomic gases and that of polariton condensates, and also to develop the links of these two fields with technological applications, and in particular with the field of nanotechnology.
